Know your expat state pension and private pension options | Ep. 12

A big part of financial plans is retirement planning and a big part of retirement plans is a pension.  A state pension offers a minimum income to cover the basics, whilst a private pension is a way of deferring some of your income now by putting some money aside for spending when you are older.  When you have a pension, things start to get complicated when you move abroad and the duration of that work experience overseas; add to that the conversations around tax that needs to take place.

In this episode, David Denton, a pension expert from Quilter International encourages expats to think beyond their current job and beyond their time in Dubai if they intend to return home or move to another country in the future.  David discusses some of the complexities expats face and some of the things they need to plan for, in advance, and shares his mantra in financial planning.  And most importantly - what figure do we need to save in order to retire, and retire comfortably? And what does that look like on a state pension and on a private pension.
